Somerset West Community Health Expo - 19 April 2026

Somerset West showed up - and it made a difference

On Sunday, 19 April 2026, Silverleaf Health Ministries opened its doors to the Somerset West community for our Somerset West Community Health Expo.

Despite the weather, residents came through, many of them people who had been quietly carrying health concerns for months without knowing where to start.

That was exactly who this event was for.

The expo was built around the NEWSTART health principles: Nutrition, Exercise, Water, Sunshine, Temperance, Air, Rest, and Trust. Eight interactive health stations gave visitors a hands-on, non-intimidating way to check in on their physical and mental wellbeing. Three medical doctors were present to provide individual health counselling, and many trained volunteers gave their time to serve every person who walked through the door.

Visitors left with on-site health screenings, a snapshot of their vitals, and practical take-home guidance they could apply immediately.

A wellness vendor market ran alongside the health stations, with local vendors offering healthy food options and everyday wellness products.

The event was featured in Nova News, District Mail Helderberg, with journalist Yaseen Gaffar covering event.

Sunday was about meeting people where they are, with no barriers, no cost, and no pressure.
